Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly thereafter. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's childhood. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After failing several classes during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student.
