Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice-President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she was an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has garnered the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
